In the jewel traditions of Awadh, Ganga-Jamuni is a term used for a piece of jewellery featuring both gold and silver.

Gold is associated with the passionate Ganga, whereas silver is reserved for the gentle Yamuna. This box is made in silver-plated copper, in the exquisite Repousse tradition of metal smiths living on the banks of yamuna in Delhi. Masters who can still do this technique on small motifs are a rare find.
