A piece of pure silver is moulded into a base form, and the chosen design is embossed on the metal. The embossed shapes are then filled with great dexterity with crushed The word त्राण (transliteration: Traanh) is Hindi for "protection". Inspired by the protective Madaar flowers (Scientific name: Calotropis gigantea), these precious cufflinks have been forged in the heart of the city of light itself-Kashi. They are made in the Gulabi Meenakari tradition which is a GI tagged art form endemic to the ghats of Benares.

Meena glass mixed with an intriguing natural anardana (Pomegranate seed) glue. This is then fired to transform into translucent coloured patch. What distinguishes it from other meenakari is the layer of white meena which acts as an opaque canvas for handpainted motifs. The paint is fired layer by layer for permanence. The motifs primarily use the colour pink (Gulabi), which lends its name to the craft.
